Nestled among the rolling landscapes of Kent, in the village of Boughton Monchelsea, cousins Phil and James Catt are quietly reviving a time-honoured craft. Alongside the success of their established family wholesale businesses, they have turned their attention to Ragstone Ridge – a 20-acre vineyard they began planting in 2019, now steadily coming into its own.
The site is home to carefully nurtured Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Bacchus vines, which thrive in the local terroir. From these, the pair produce a distinctive range of Kentish wines, spanning both still and sparkling styles. Notably, and somewhat against the odds of the English climate, their Pinot Noir stands out as a bold and impressive expression of what the region can achieve.
